Happy new year!

Ready or not, here it comes!!!  I think i'm ready!  2009 has been an awesome year!  I am so excited to see what 2010 has in store for us.
This year was the first year that I did not spend the Christmas holiday with my side of the family.  It was hard, but i handled it well.  I have been extremely blessed to have such an awesome in law family and i definitely felt at home!  This weekend we get to spend New Years doing Christmas with my side of the family.  Should be a great time.  Everyone will arrive at some point today. :)  It's always fun to have a housefull!!!!  We got lots of great things for Christmas so far and can't wait to start putting it all to use in our house.  Scott said last night, "We are going to have an awesome house one day!"   We have lots of plans for the house and i wish we could do it all NOW, but it will take some time...and some money!
Scott and I have become and aunt and uncle again!  Mia Lane Cordy was born Monday Dec. 28.  She was 7.9 pounds and 20" long.  She is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We are so happy for Josh and Jenna!!!  We cannot wait to meet her! [they live in california :( ]
Anyway, thats all for now.....i'll end with a few pictures.

our pretty Christmas tree...i LOVE it!

Christmas gift from nana and poppy-exactly what he wanted!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Haven't updated in a while.  Here's what's been going on in our world lately.......we're pretty boring, but here it all is just in case you want to know:

We are really enjoying the cold weather.  It has been awesome!  We even saw some snow!!!!  Who would have thought?  It went from being beautiful 70*, then got colder with a little rain, then some snow, then more rain, then hot and sunny all in a matter of days.  Crazy Texas weather!  The snow definitely was coming down hard, and stuck to the ground in some places, but not at our house.  In fact, by the time I got home from work, it had already stopped snowing.  I did get to enjoy the snow at work though, but my camera was at home. :(  But all in all, it has definitely been a pretty good "winter" so far.

My best guy friend from high school has enlisted in the air force.  He leaves for basic training next week.  He had a going away party in The Woodlands this past Wednesday and we got to see so many of our friends...and their cute babies!; The Flores's (of course)The Koehlers, The Kuhns, The Chandlers, The soon-to-be Hinojosas, Emi, Ben, Will...so much fun!  One of these days Trisha and I will join mommyhood with the others, but for now, we enjoyed everyone else's babies!  I'm excited for Marcus and sad at the same time.  The military is such a bittersweet thing.  I appreciate all they do but it makes me sad to see people have to go to war and such.  Luckily, I will get to hang out with Marcus's wife, Amanda, and son, Landen,  a lot more since she will be living in The Woodlands while he is gone.  YAY! I'm excited!

Scott has still been working like crazy...and it looks like it is only going to get crazier.  LONG hours...LOTS of overtime.  The overtime is nice, but i sure like having my hubby home with me more often.  Oh well, do it while we can, right?

Christmas is approaching fast.  I am almost done shopping.  Only a few gifts left to buy.  I plan on getting most of it done this weekend while Scott is working.  And hopefully we will get the lights on the house.  I will post pics soon.  The tree and mantle decorations have been up for a while now.  We are really excited about Christmas this year.  It will be my first Christmas with my in laws.  We are trying the "every other year" method.  Last year was Christmas with my family, this year with his. We also alternate Thanksgiving as well.  Seems to be working out pretty good so far.  Mom is definitely having a hard time with the fact that I wont be with her this Christmas, BUT, we will be spending New Years with them.  We are also going to Schlitterbahn's Christmas next weekend with them.  I just love this time of year.  Everything about this season is just so magical and makes me happy!

Hope everyone has an amazing Christmas season....and ALWAYS remember the Reason for the Season!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESUS!!!!!

WELCOME HOME, Joshua

My brother in law/Scott's step brother, Joshua, deployed for Afghanistan the day we left for our honeymoon at the beginning of may.  Great News:  HE IS HOME!  Such an awesome feeling!!!!  I have been able to keep in touch with his wifey, Jenna, who is expecting their first baby in January.  Knowing how excited I am that he is finally home with her, I can only imagine how excited they are to be with each other.  Joshua hasn't gotten to see Jenna's cute little baby bump at all!  I get emotional just thinking about it all.  I am just so glad he is home SAFE and finally gets to be with his girls.  WELCOME HOME JOSHUA!!!!!  Thanks to all the troops out there defending our country!  God Bless You ALL!

Turkey Time (and some other updates)

I just love this time of year.  Fall is rolling in, the weather has been AMAZING, the color changes in leaves are beautiful, the family time, EVERYTHING!

So as most of you know I had another procedure done yesterday to follow up with my cervical biopsy.  This time they did some cryo-therapy.  Basically what they did was freeze the abnormal cells on my cervix for 2.5 minutes, then rest for 15 minutes, then freeze again for 2.5 minutes.  Needless to say, it was NOT fun!  It was very uncomfortable and I had lots of cramping afterwards.  I am doing much better today but still having some cramping.  This procedure should have resolved the problem.  I do not have to see my GYN again for 4 months!  So keep saying your prayers that the cryo-therapy took care of it and I don't have to go through anything more! :)

Mom, Jaime, Kadyn, and Kyson came up Monday afternoon to help me get ready for the Zickefoose Thanksgiving Feast.  Mom also accompanied me to the doctor so Scott didn't have to take off work.  I have truly enjoyed having them at my house.  They are sooooo helpful!  They are constantly cooking, cleaning, doing my laundry, etc.  It's awesome.  They are totally going to spoil me...and then leave! :(  My dad, Kyle, and Aubrey will be here this evening.  I get to start making the pies this evening and tomorrow will be another day full of cooking, eating, and of course, FOOTBALL!  We are so ready for this little break, especially Hubby.  He has been working 6 days a week, 10 hours a day.  He is beat!  I am so proud of him for working so hard.  He has learned to run 8 out of the 11 machines in the shop!  Some people have been with the company for years and only know how to run 1 or 2 machines.  Hubby has been there for ONE year!!!!  How awesome is he!?!?!

So as this hectic yet fun day approaches, i thought I would give you a quick list of things that I am thankful for.
- My amazing Husband, who i love more and more every day
- Our wonderful families
- LIFE
- our friends, who we may not see often but know they are there
- love, and the ability to share it with others
- work
- and most importantly, Jesus Christ!

There are so many things to be thankful for...this list is not half of them.  Just remember to show your appreciation to those who impact your life.

Hope everyone has a very blessed Thanksgiving.
Love to all!

SUPRISE!!!!!

This past weekend I made a surprise trip to Buda to see my best friend, Linz and attend her baby shower!  I'll re-cap the weekend:
I got to Austin around noon-time on Saturday and went to Jen Lee's apt. (Haven't seen her since my wedding!!!!)  Her and I did some shopping for baby gifts then headed back to her apartment.  She is currently working her little tail off trying to get into the Communication Disorders program so i left her to study and headed south to Buda.  Jason knew I was coming so he was keeping me updated on the soon-to-be parents plans.  They had been in birthing class all day so i was anxiously awaiting for them to get home so I could make my appearance.  I got to their house around 7 p.m.  Their front door has a window on it that you can see through.  When I walked up I could see Linz standing in the kitchen.  So, i knocked and stepped to the side so she could not see me.  Apparently I didn't step far enough to the side because right before the door opened I heard screaming.  She was pretty excited to see me, as I was pretty excited to see her!  She has the cutest little belly EVER!  I hate living so far away from her so it's always sooooo good to see her.  That night we watched Jason put up the baby crib and we unpacked and organized some gifts that she has already received.  Baby Jaxon should be here mid-January.  I cannot wait to meet him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  His Aunt Kayla loves him already! :)
The baby shower was Sunday afternoon.  At the shower I realized how blessed Linz is to have such great friends.  I truly love all of the people she hangs out with.  They are all so awesome to her and Jason both...and I know they will be the same with Jaxon when he arrives.  I hate being so far away from Linz but I know that she has great people in her life to "watch over her" for me.  It's so hard when you are so far away from your best friend!

It's always something.....

I wasn't going to post about this because I didn't think it was really a big deal, but it's kind of turning out that way.  I am VERY regular about having my yearly well woman's exam.  In Oct. by exam came back abnormal.  The doctor told me that it happens quite often and usually is nothing to worry about but I had to come in for a colposcopy and cervical biopsy.  No big deal, right?  Well, it was the most uncomfortable thing ever!  He said the spot was very small and that he probably got it all out with just the biopsy.  This was done last wednesday.  Yesterday i got the results from the biopsy....STILL ABNORMAL!  Now i have to go in for another procedure.  UGH!  I will now have some cryotherapy done, where they will freeze my cervix...TWICE!  The nurse told me that this should prevent the "spot" in question from turning into cancer.  At my colpsocopy appointment my doctor told me that on a scale of 1-6 (i being normal, 6 being cancer) i was a 2.  I am sure the procedure will NOT be comfortable, just as the last one wasn't.  I will have this done the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.  Has anyone ever had this done?  The nurse that called me didn't quite seem concerned but i am!  Any information from people who have actually experienced this will be wonderful!  So, keep me in your prayers!  I also have an appt with an endocrinologist next week to discuss the rapid weight gain.  Hopefully between these 2 doctors we can figure something out.  Maybe the abnormalities are affecting me somehow.  I dont know but I hope we can figure this all out! I'm tired of not feeling well!!!!

On another note, Scott has his wisdom teeth pulled on Friday.  He did GREAT!  Never had a whole lot of pain and was up and at 'em by Sunday.  My parents came up and dad built us a new back patio cover!  (with the help of my uncle)  Scott was sad that he couldn't help but we had this planned for a while and his teeth kind of got in the way!  Mom and I walked the heart walk for American Heart Association on Saturday morning, then of course did some shopping!  We also got lots done around the house...i feel like i live in a whole new house! haha  It's really starting to look like a HOME. :)  My parents are just amazing!  I couldnt have done it without them , thats for sure.

So anyway, that's about it for now.  Keep me in your prayers that we find something out soon and that it all turns out ok.

Love to all!

Just an update

So, how was your halloween?  I have really enjoyed looking at all of our friends and familys pictures from their Halloween fun!  Scott and I had plans, but......didn't end up doing anything.  Scott has needed his wisdom teeth pulled for about 4 years now and has ceased to get it done.  They bother him from time to time but this past weekend they REALLY started to bother him.  He had to work Saturday and came home in LOTS of pain.  He took some leftover pain meds that he had from when he had shingles and it didn't even touch the pain.  Poor thing! :(  He pretty much stayed in bed all weekend because his mouth hurt so bad.  He woke up monday morning and decided to not go to work and try to get in to see a dentist.  He was able to see a dentist at 10 and the oral surgeon at 2.  Thank God!  He has been put on some strong antibiotics and some pain meds.  He will have 3 wisdom teeth and another tooth that has an abcess under it pulled on Friday.  I am so anxious for him to not hurt anymore.  I just hate when he is in pain and i can't do anything about it! So, say a little prayer for him Friday around 10:45!

On another note....Scott's company has become SUPER busy!  I think I have blogged about this previously.  The last few weeks he has been working 8 hour days, 6 days a week.  Starting yesterday they started working 10 hour shifts, 6 days a week!  That's 40 hours of OVERTIME per paycheck!  Not sure if a really tired hubby is worth the money but those paychecks sure will be nice! :)  He is such a hard worker.  I am just so proud of him!

Last night we were able to see our sister-in-law, Jenna.  She was in town visiting a friend so we met for dinner.  This was the last time we will see her before she is off to California.  Her hubby is a marine and will return home from Afghanistan early December.  YAAAY JOSH!!!  Jenna is also expecting a little baby in December.  I am just so happy for them and ready for Josh to be on US soil!  Scott and I are ready to make a visit to Cali too once baby Mia arrives!

This coming weekend is the American Heart Association Heart Walk.  Mom and Dad are coming up for the weekend too!  Mom and I are going to do the walk while Dad starts working on some projects around the house (and take care of hubby while he recovers from his wisdom teeth surgery).  We had originally planned this weekend as a "work weekend".  We are re-doing our back patio and doing some other little projects around the house that we have been dreaming up!  It's so much fun!!!!  I know Scott is sad that he won't be able to partake in the work but at least he will be there to give opinions if needed.  It's so cool to have a dad and husband who love doing things like this!  Makes me happy :)
The American Heart Association Heart Walk is one of my favorite events of the year.  I just love everything about it.  The hospital set a goal to raise $10,000 this year.  We ended up raising over $15,000!!!!!!!!!!!  How awesome is that.  $15,000 to an organization that can possibly assist in saving peoples lives.  AMAZING!!!  I am so proud to be a part of this hospital.

Whew!  Quite of an update there.  As you can see there is lots going on!   We are definitely keeping busy and loving life.
Love to all.

Sickly

I honestly believe that I have the worst immune system ever!  I can look at someone who is sick and I will probably get what they have.  Scott has been fighting a cold or something like it for the past week or so.  He saw the doctor and is on antibiotics.  Guess what....yah, I now have what he had.  My head hurts, my throat hurts, i'm sneezing and my nose is a bit runny.  I DO NOT have a fever thank goodness!  I went to work for a couple hours today and decided I needed to come home and sleep it off.  I'm feeling a little better this evening and will continue with some OTC meds in hopes that I will feel better and better each day.  I can't be sick for halloween!

Our friends Kelly and Daniel are having a halloween party on Saturday so we will be spending the holidy with them and lots of our friends.  I am SUPER excited!  Since I am on some meds I cannot drink so it will definitely be hard to stay awake...but probably pretty darn interesting as I will be the ONLY one NOT drinking!  haha  I bet I'll have some stories to tell!

Scott is still working Saturdays as of now...make that overtime!  Work has really been picking up for him latelly...he may continue on this working saturday schedule for a while.  Bittersweet.  I like the paychecks but I miss spending that extra day with him.

Thats all for now.  Pray that I only start feeling better and not worse!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!

Lazy Sunday

Today has been quite a lazy day.  We went to Ziegfest last night with our friends, Kelly, Daniel, Dos, Chris and Megan.  Lots of good Texas Country music!  Afterwards we hopped on over to a bar/dancehall near our house, Big Texas.  We had such a good time!!!!  Late night last night made for a super lazy day today!
To backtrack a little bit, i got all my Scentsy stuff in the mail on Friday!  I am sooo ready for my first party!  There are so many awesome smelling scents!  I had only smelled a few of the ones that my mom has so it was cool to see alllll the other ones there is to offer!  Right now I am burning Snowberry.  YUMMMM-O!!!  I sat down again a little earlier and smelled them all again.  I really do LOVE this stuff.  So, if you are interested in hosting a party or coming to a party just let me know.  You really should check this stuff out.   I am planning on having a launch party early November so keep your eyes/ears out for an invite...and definitely let me know if you are interested.
Scott's cooking dinner and I am making dessert.  Gotta get in the kitchen!

p.s. WAY TO GO TEXANS!!!!! :)

Smelly Good Stuff!

Have you ever heard of or smelled a Scentsy product?  Well, you should!  They smell sooooo good!  Mom has had one for a while and everytime we would go to her house it always smelled soo good!  When we moved into our house she got us one.  Basically it is a wickless candle.  It has wax in a tray with a light under it that heats it up and the aroma comes out.  They come in lots of pretty warmers.
Now you are wondering, why is she writing about this?  Well, I have decided to start selling them.  It's a "job" much like selling Avon or Pampered Chef, etc.  I have a website that you can order from or you can host a party.  Parties are the way to go because you have an opportunity to smell the scents and see the pretty warmers.  It's a great gift and Christmas is right around the corner!  So, let me know if you are interested in the Scentsy product.  Let's have a party!!!! :)  I am going to try to have a launch party soon as well so if you are interested in attending let me know.

On another note, our date night last night was wonderful.  It was so nice just to go out and spend some time with Scott.  Yes, we spend every night together at home but it's just so different when you get to go out!  (I sound like we have children  keeping us home or something. haha)
We had sushi for dinner then went to a movie.  We saw Couples Retreat.  Both were great!  My husband is amazing!!!!!

Love to all!

Happy Hump day!

Work has gotten so busy lately that we have had to make a few changes to our class schedule.  ("class?" you are thinking...i lead 4 exercise classes of EKG monitored exercise daily for heart patients)  Our morning classes have to be supervised by a cardiologist. Well, with the business we have had to add another class in the morning, and the times the our cardiologist can be there have changed a bit.  Morning classes went from Mon, Tues, Thurs, to Mon, Thurs, Fri....which means, i have 2 days a week that I dont have to be at work until later!  (by later i mean 9 or 10)  This is definitely making it easier for me to get a good workout in before going to work.  It is so hard to come home and work out after being in a gym and running around a hospital all day on your feet.  People think that because I spend most of my day in a rehab gym that I have all the time in the world to exercise....WRONG!  I hardly have time to eat lunch some days because we are soooooo busy.  Most of the time I am eating standing up...taking bites between patients.  We are honestly the busiest we have been in the 2 years i have worked there.  Don't get me wrong, i am definitely not complaining!  JOB SECURITY! haha
I'm hoping the rest of the week goes by quickly. I am ready for  a weekend at home doing NOTHING....well, except cleaning. (that's usually what my weekends at home consist of)  Last night I gave Scott a challenge.  It's been a long time since we have gone out together...like a date.  So last night I told him that he had to plan a date night for Friday night somewhere besides at home and he couldnt ask my opinion.  He has to do it all on his own.  I'm pretty excited to see what he comes up with...it definitely could be interesting.  I will let you all know what he comes up with!  Stay tuned.....

workout #1

Scott gets up at 4:15am during the week because he has to be at work by 5 am.  I have always thought it was easier to wake up early when you are waking up with someone.  So, I decided, why not get up with Scott in the morning and work out before work.  Sounds like a great idea...right??  haha
Today was workout #1.  I sooooo would rather have stayed in bed.  It's rainy outside, perfect sleeping weather!  But, kudos to me for getting out of bed at 4:30am.  I decided to start Jillian Michaels' 30 day shred.  It's a pretty good program, not too hard, definitely not too easy, and it doesnt take long.  It has been a while since i have done it, or any "exercise" for that matter.  I mean, i am on my feet ALLLL DAY long at work, running through the hospital, working out with patients, etc.   I try to fit in as much physical activity as possible throughout the day though, to keep me from being completely sedentary....but engaging in actual planned exercise for myself has been quite non-existant lately ;and believe me, I am definitely not happy about that.  Well, Jillian just about killed me this morning.  I honestly thought I was going to puke!  That hasnt happened to me in ages! haha   I know that once i get used to waking up this early I will get  used to it and no longer feel the urge to puke.  Today is a normal day at work so i should be home by 530 so I will try to plan on walking the neighborhood this evening, weather permitting.  Maybe I will even get Scott to join me! ;)
Well, say a little prayer for me and my exercise routine.  We all know how much i need it!
God Bless!

Babies, Babies, Babies....

No, don't get excited...I"M NOT PREGO!!!! haha
Last weekend we went to CC for my sister-in-law, Jenna's, baby shower. It was so much fun! It's been a while since I've been to a baby shower. I got to see a lot of my in-law side of the family and that's always nice! I cannot wait to meet the newest member, Miss Mia Lane Cordy! She will be here late December sometime. We will have to make a trip to California to see her though, which is fine with us!
My best friend is also preggers with her first. Mr. Jaxon Cook should be here mid January...maybe on my birthday? I'm excited to meet him as well. Hopefully I will make it to austin sometime soon to hang out with his mommy and help her get his room together and other stuff! I just love shopping for babies!

For now, we plan on just enjoying everyone else's babies. We definitely want to have children, but we are loving enjoying each other and getting plenty of sleep right now. :)

Hope you all have a great rest of the week and of course a wonderful weekend. We actually get to stay home this weekend so we will be working on our projects around the house....and of course SLEEPING! haha

What's wrong with me?

If you have seen me, or a picture of me, lately you have probably noticed that Ive gained quite a bit of weight. Something is going on with my body and I am working with a few doctors to figure it all out. I've gained a lot of weight over the passed few months without changing my lifestyle habits very much, definitely not enough to cause this much weight gain. Also, i hardly EVER feel GOOD. It's definitely not how I should be feeling at this age! Ive been having all kinds of tests done and will see an internal medicine doctor in November. Just say a little prayer that one of these doctors can figure out what is wrong with my body so that I can start feeling better!
THANKS!

BORING

Wow, I never knew how boring Scott and I really were until I started doing a blog! I always want to update but never really have anything new going on. HAHA Oh the joys of life!
Last weekend was my cousins wedding so the family was in town. We had so much fun! I am so extremely happy for my cousin Jeff, and my NEW cousin Ashley. I just LOVE her! I am so glad he found someone so perfect for him!!!! (and she fits in with the family pretty darn well!)
We ended the weekend with the Astros game. The last home game of the season and it was a WIN! What fun we had! Scott and I took Kadyn and Aubrey to the game with us and everyone else met us there. We got there early so the kids were able to run around and see all the cool stuff outside of the park. Those 2 just LOVE baseball! Thanks to Reed Ryan for the tickets! :)
Another normal week is almost over..pretty boring, i know! This coming weekend we are headed south. I am helping give my new sister-in-law, Jenna, a baby shower on Saturday for my little niece that will be here in January-Miss Mia Lane Cordy. I'm so excited!!!! I just wish they would be living in Texas! :(
Yet, another fun filled weekend with the Zickefoose clan. (Although last weekend I was informed by my place setting at the rehearsal dinner and my mother that I was no longer a Zickefoose! I will ALWAYS be a Zickefoose!!!!!!) I was going to drop Scott off in Victoria for the weekend on my way to CC, but we decided that we really hate being apart...so, he's coming along! How awesome is that to have a husband that you absolutely hate being away from?!?! I just love him so much!!!!! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Love to all!

Mrs. Scott Gower

We got a new.....

COMPUTER! Finally! I have been trying to do updates when I get a free moment at work, but lately i haven't had much free time. We finally got us a new computer, a laptop, this past weekend. Now i will be able to write more AND add pictures! Our last computer so was so horrible that i didn't even try to get on it to upload pictures! haha

We have lots of projects going on around the house right now, and as I have heard, it will probably never stop! haha Bring it on...it's FUN! Now we just need to stay home on the weekends so we can get things done.

This coming weekend we are heading up to Mansfield to see the family. Our nephew, Braxton, is turning ONE year old! I cannot believe it. Time flies!!!! My sister in law, Nicole, and I are also going to work on baby shower stuff for our sister in law, Jenna. The baby shower will be here soon!!!! I'm sure we will also pay a visit to "Hoots HonkyTonk" to do some dancing with my mom and dad-in-law. That's ALWAYS a good time! "Holler and Swaller!" haha It should be an overall great family weekend! We always love spending time with our families...they are all awesome!

Not much more to tell. Hopefully I will be able to get some pics up soon of Scott's birthday present, his new BBQ pit, and of course my little man, Braxton after this weekend. Hope everyone is doing just fabulous!

Love to all!

Happy Birthday, Scott!

As I told everyone before, last weekend we had a birthday party/housewarming party for our friends that lived in Houston. We had SOOOO much fun! We got to hang out with lots of people that we don't get to see very often. Eventhough we all live in Houston, we are all on different sides of this big 'ol city. Scott's birthday was on Sunday, but he got his present on Friday. I had arranged for a BBQ pit to be made for Scott for his birthday. He constantly talks about getting one and wanting to have a nice one that is built to his liking. Well, with the help of AJ, my dad, and AJ's uncle...we were able to pull it off!!!!!!!!!!

Friday night my family, us, and the Cook's were having dinner. AJ was in town (with the BBQ) and was going to meet us for dinner. We were eating on the outside patio at a Willie's Icehouse when AJ pulls into the parking lot, BBQ pit on a trailer behind his truck. Right as he drove in front of the patio where we were sitting, i looked at Scott and said, "Happy Birthday, hunny." He turned, looked, and his jaw dropped! That boy ate his dinner faster than I have ever seen...he wanted to go look! He LOVES his new toy!!!!
Since he got the pit on Friday, he was able to prepare and get it ready to use on Saturday for our friends and family. He REALLY enjoyed cooking on it, and everyone REALLY enjoyed eating what he had cooked! :)

I'm so happy that we were able to pull it off and it be a surprise. I love making surprising him and making him happy!

So besides all that fun stuff, I got to hang out with my bestest friend in the whole wide world! Linz and I got to go look at stuff for her baby's room. We got to plan and talk about colors and all that good stuff. Jaxon is one lucky little man! I cannot wait for him to be here so I can meet him! I love him already!!!! :)

We have a relaxing weekend ahead of us, and I am super excited. We will get to hang out with each other, and probably work on stuff around the house. I'm ready to get our garden started! :)

Thanks to all who spent Scott's birthday with us. You guys are awesome and we love you all very much!!! See ya'll next time!

The Big Weekend

Labor day weekend is here! I am so excited to have a long weekend. I came into work for about 3 hours then I have off until Tuesday. WOO HOO! Our families are coming into town this weekend and so are some of our best friends. Scott's bday is on Sunday so we thought it would be a good time to have some friends/family over to celebrate with him and see the house. The house isn't completely in order yet but that's ok. That is just too long of a process to wait to have visitors!

I got Scott THE best birthday present EVER! I am so excited to give it to him. I've been planning this gift for a very long time...hard to believe that the time has finally come. :) I will let you know what the gift is and how he liked it after he gets it! (just in case he checks the blog)

My best friend, Lindsay, is coming up tonight also. I haven't seen her since our wedding. I miss her sooooo much! I get to help her plan her upcoming baby shower and nursery decorations for Baby Jaxon! He will be here in January and I cannot wait! I just love babies! I know her and Jason are going to be amazing parents! (and i will be a fabulous Aunt! heehee)

I just feel so blessed to have such great family and friends. It really is amazing how God takes care of us all, huh?

That's all for now. I will update everyone on how the weekend went later!
Have a fun and safe Labor day weekend!!!!!

Just to say HELLO! :)

Well, HELLO!!!! It's been another manic monday! (gosh, i love the 80's!) We had an awesome weekend though. I always hate when they end! Scott's BFF was awesome and bought us George Strait tickets for our wedding present. The concert was Saturday night, so there were LOTS of our friends from back home in town. Eric, Alexa, Heidi and AJ all stayed at our house...and Chris came over to hang out too! Everyone came over Friday night and we all stayed up WAY too late just hanging out and reminiscing! Saturday morning the girls went one way and the boys went the other. We decided we needed to hit up SamMoon to buy some accessories for our concert outfits. We got lots of good stuff! I also got a Texas flag to hang up in our backyard! The boys went to Bass Pro Shop for A WHILE then had to go pick up my new furniture! They were running late so they just dropped the furniture off in the living room, still in the wrapping, showered, and we were out the door to enjoy some good 'ol country music. The traffic was horrendous, as usual in Houston, but even worse due to the sold out concert. We sat in traffic so long and missed seeing Julianne Hough and Blake Shelton. But, we got to see Sugarland and George Strait....both were AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU again, AJ for getting us tickets! You are AWESOME! :)
After the concert we went to hang out with the entire crew at Kelly and Daniel's house. Scott and I also got to see Trisha and OD's house since they live close by. It was soooo good to see some old friends and hang out. We truly have been blessed with suck great friends in our lives! We got in reallly late, again, and all slept until 1230 or so on Sunday. We apparently needed the sleep! Late nights like that on the weekend sure do make it hard to wake up on Monday!
Scott and AJ hit up the driving range for a big while Heidi and I did some shopping, then made dinner and watched Big Brother.
I guess nothing too exciting happened over the weekend. I just wanted to brag a little about getting to see George! :) haha
I found out today that Scott and I are going to have a little niece soon! Miss Mia Cordy. We are so excited, and I know her Mommy and Daddy, and Lollie and Pops are too. They were really ready for a grand-daughter! She will be here before we know it! I've already started shopping online for her!!!! :)
My BFF, Linz will find out the sex of their little bundle of joy in a couple of weeks...and I am anxiously awaiting that phone call too. All my friends/family need to quit having babies! I am gonna be broke before we have kids! haha
Anyway, hope this post finds everyone well. Hopefully next post will be more exciting! HAHA
LOVE TO ALL!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
XOXO

All moved in

We are still far from being "settled in" but we are "moved in".
We started the moving last week by moving over little things. My dad brought up a Uhaul on Friday with a bedroom set for one of the spare bedrooms. Scott was able to take half a day off (and since he goes in at 5 am, his half day ended at 11!). Scott, Dad, and my Uncle Lee (and of course Kadyn!) were able to get all the furniture moved into the house before i even got off work at 1:30! Kyle and Jaime came up Friday evening and got their hands dirty as well, helping to get things put away. I did not realize we had sooo much stuff! How in the world did it all fit in our 1 bedroom apartment?!?!?
Scott, Me, mom, Dad, and Kadyn all stayed at the house for the first time Friday night. At that point, Scott and I still found it hard to believe that we were sleeping in OUR house. So cool! We worked HARD all weekend getting things done....putting away boxes, unpacking boxes, organizing the bedrooms, trying to put things in the "perfect" spot, etc, etc, etc! We got the master bedroom and bathroom painted but haven't even thought about the 3 guest bedrooms yet. Kadyn LOVED painting and did such a great job! We know one of the bedrooms will be Scott's "man cave". I found some really cute decorations at Hobby Lobby for his cave...we're going with the hunting and fishing theme. One of the bedrooms is completely done, with bed and everything (Kadyn calls this room his! lol). The 3rd guest bedroom is still full of boxes and stuff that i don't know where to put yet. It will get put away at some point. My goal is to continue working on the house every chance I get. It's going to be a long slow process, but I am ok with that! It will keep me busy!!!!
We were also able to work in the yard over the weekend. My grandpa was gracious enough to donate some funds to help us buy some household utensils (broom, weed eater, water hose, and much more! Dad picked it all out for us!) Kadyn and Scott got out in the backyard and cleaned up some of the overgrown palm trees. I tell you, Kadyn worked his little rear end off ALLLLL weekend! He had a BLAST!
We were able to meet 3 of our neighbors. One of the neighbors is a police-man. Great to have one of those around! We also met a very nice couple who came over and brought cookies. How sweet was that? They already invited us over to hang out! (They have a grandson Kadyn's age so also invited him to come play when he is in town!) I know we have been very blessed to have such wonderful neighbors. That was one things I really prayed hard for!
My mom has posted some of the pictures on facebook and a video of the "walk-through" of the house. So if you have facebook, check it out. I will try to take some pictures of my own very soon and get them posted on here.
We LOVE visitors and entertaining our friends so come on up! We love our house and are so happy we found something so perfect for us!

Moooooving!

My momma is coming up today!!!!!! We started moving stuff last night. We took 2 loads of boxes to the house but still have sooooo much to move. Where in the world did we put all of this stuff in a one bedroom apartment???? We were able to put away some of our kitchen-ware that we got as wedding gifts. It was nice to FINALLY open all that new stuff. My mom has a lot more she is bringing up today so we get to re-open all of our wedding gifts. It's been so long since we got them that it will be a surprise again to see we rest at we got. We wanted to start painting last night but we didnt even think about getting a ladder! haha so the painting has been postponed for now! We will be working hard this weekend! We did buy new furniture as well but we won't get it for 2 weeks. We can get the rest of the house in order then worry about the PERFECT furniture placement! :) So in 2 weeks, we will have our current living room furniture available for sale! Let us know if you know anyone who may need some furniture! That's all for now. Not sure when i will have pictures uploaded but hopefully it will be soon.
God Bless you all!

HaPpY bIrThDaY!!!!!

I just wanted to say:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my brother and my best friend! I LOVE YOU, Kyle and Lindsay!!!!

We are HOMEOWNERS!

We are officially homeowners!!!!! We closed on our house Monday at 3:00. We now have keys in our hand and are ready to start moving things in! We are the proud owners of a cute little 4 bedroom/2 bathroom, 1900 sq. ft., 4 sided red brick, 2 car garage, house on a cul-de-sac in a quiet little neighborhood with lots of young families! We never thought this day would finally be here...and it is. It feels great! We already made our first purchase at Lowes last night. We bought stuff to paint the master bedroom and bathroom. Hopefully we can start that tonight after work! We will slowly start moving things in throughout the week. My mom will be here on Wednesday with all of our wedding gifts and to help and then Dad is coming up Friday with furniture for the spare bedroom. I can't wait to get all settled, eventhough i know it will take a while.
It is still so crazy to us that we are in this point in our lives, and we discuss it often. We are finally on our own 100%, married with a mortgage! WOW!!!!! We love it though! I will try to get pictures of the house posted as soon as I can. But, for now, i must get ready for work!

Aubrey Lynn ZICKEFOOSE

Today it became official! Aubrey, my niece, has finally acquired the name ZICKEFOOSE! It has been a long battle but we are all so excited that it is finally official! Aubrey has been "my niece" since she was 2 years old when her and her mom came into our family. The last few years she has used the last name Zickefoose but it was never her legal name....NOW IT IS! You have no idea how excite we all are! (especially Aubrey) I talked to her today and told her, "well, now you are stuck with that last name!" and she said "...and I am glad I am!" Gosh i love that beautiful little girl!!!!!!

Saturday Fun

Scott and I decided to make our first "home" shopping trip today. We went to Lowe's to just look around at all the things we know we will have to buy once we move in. I cant believe its only 9 days away!!!! As much as i LOVE shopping and decorating....i have NEVER been so completely lost in Lowe's as i was today. I normally always have wonderful ideas but today...NOTHING! It's pretty stressful. How do I know I am going to pick the right colors, decorations, and will i still like it in 6 months? We are also trying to mix Scott and mine's style. He is definitely a country boy and I am a city girl. How do we go about having a "rustic-chic" decor for our house? We did it for the wedding....we have to be able to figure it out for our home. I love the browns, blue, greens....how do i mix that with rustic? Most rustic decor our there is maroon and navy and that is not really what I want. I am thinking we can mix the rot-iron decorations with the colors we like and it will look ok. What do you think? Anyone have any suggestions? I would love some help with this. We close on the house in 9 days, a monday, so we will use that week to get some painting done and then move in furniture and such the following weekend. i am getting soooo excited i can hardly stand it!
Thats all for now. Heading out to see Eli Young Band at the racepark tonight with Chris, Heidi, and AJ.
Bless you all!

House News

So, we had originally thought that after closing on the house we were going to lease the house back to the sellers for 5-7 days. We got a call today from our realtor and the sellers have decided not to lease it back from us....which means, we get to walk away from closing with KEYS IN OUR HAND!!!! i am so excited! It didnt bother me that we were leasing the house back but I am just so anxious to have those darn keys!!!! Since we are closing on a Monday, we won't move in until the following weekend. Hopefully we can put some personal touches on the house during the week before moving in. I know i want to paint the master bedroom...who knows what else I will come up with between now and then.
I will upload pictures of our new house and give all the information soooon!

HELLO!

So, apparently this is the new thing. Why not give it a try? I love being able to read our friends blogs so i know what's going on with everyone. With everyone being so busy these days it is really hard to keep up with everyone.

As everyone knows, we were married on April 4, 2009. The last 3 months have been amazing! I never knew how much I could love someone until Scott and I reunited. He is pretty much amazing! Shortly after the wedding Scott and I started house-hunting. We found a house on our first day of looking!!! We didn't think we would find something so quickly but we fell in love with this house. We even kept looking after seeing this one and nothing compared! We close on the house July 20 but the seller's are leasing the house back from us for about a week. We will be completely moved in by the end of August. We are VERY anxious to be in our new home. It's hard knowing you have something but you can't "use" it yet...i guess that goes for all of our wedding gifts too. We got so many great things but since we don't have room for it at our apartment, it is being stored at my parents house. I cannot wait to go through it all again and actually USE it! Once we get moved in and settled we hope to have a "house-warming" party...so stay tuned for information on that.

For the last year Scott has been working the night shift at work. Which means, we hardly EVER see each other! It's been tough, but we've managed to get through it. About 2 weeks ago Scott called me right as I was going to bed (he was at work) and said that his supervisor approached him about moving to a day shift. I was EXTREMELY excited! I was finally going to have a normal marriage! Scott, on the other hand, was a little hesitant because of the pay-cut...BUT, we decided that more time together would totally be worth it! I've had him home at night with me for the last 2 weeks and i LOVE IT! I could not be happier with my life right now!

I got an AWESOME phone call last night....my best friend is going to be a MOMMY!!!! Her and her husband have been married for about a year and half and I have been waiting for that call for a loooong time! :) She is actually already 11.5 weeks along and is due January 20 (maybe she will deliver early-on my bday Jan 12!) I could not be happier for her and her husband. I just LOVE babies! (we are waiting though!)

Well, i guess since this is the first post there was a lot to say! I hope this will be fun for you guys all to read and keep updated on our new life. I will try to post often...but who knows how well it will go. Work is just crazy busy for Scott and I both...which we are very thankful.

Until next time!

We love you all and thank God everyday for the people in our lives!

Kayla Gower :)
