I'm so bad at this!

So, i've noticed i only blog like once every few months!  HAHA  Our lives just aren't that exciting i guess.

So, some boring updates on The Gower's.

We have both been working...A LOT!  I feel like that is all we do..and by we i mostly mean Scott.  Poor guy has been working his rear end off for the last 2 years.  BUT, we've been able to get a few things paid off which has been nice.  He sometimes gets a weekend off so we enjoy just spending time with each other.  Our New addition, Lilli, just keeps growing and growing and growing and growing.....
We really are having a lot of fun with her...but she's a lot of work.

Tomorrow we are headed for Canyon Lake/New Braunfels, TX with the rest of my Gower family.  We have decided to start an annual family trip.  We are so excited about the first one!  We are staying at my family's lakehouse and planning on spending some time at the river.  Should be LOTS of fun!  Any time we get to spend with family is always awesome.  We truly are blessed to have such great families. :)

Scott will work next weekend then the weekend after we are going to Concan, TX for a weekend with the Zickefoose clan.  (and the Truesdales & Dredla's).  That will also be a very fun trip!  I'm loving all this river time in my life!!!  Sure wish we lived closer to the river so we could float more often.  I just love it!

Anyway, that's about the height of our excitement.  I hope everyone is doing just fabulous.  COME SEE US!

Long time no see!

Wow!  I kinda fell of the blogging wagon!  I guess my life was just too boring and not much to write about.  I will do some updating on what has been going on Since January!

My father-in-law turned the big 50 back in March.  My mom-in-law threw a surprise party for him in Victoria.  We had so much fun!  It's always a blast getting the WHOLE family together.  We LOVE it!  Hope you had a fabulous birthday, Pops!  We love you!

Scott and I also just celebrated our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!  Can you believe it?  It's so hard to believe we have been married for one year.  It has been an amazing year and i am so excited to see what the future holds!  We had originally planned on celebrating our anniversary by taking a little getaway to Gruene.  Scott has been working sooooo much lately I really wanted to just get away and relax.  Well, plans didn't quite work out that way!  We decided to adopt a puppy on March 17.  We brought home little Lilli!  She is an american bulldog mix and she is beautiful!!!!  Her mom was rescued in January and 2 weeks after being at the shelter she had a littler of pups!  We loved Lilli since the day we saw her picture!  Let me just tell you about this little baby.....

she LOVES her daddy! (and he LOVES her!)  She likes to chew on toys and people, but won't dare chew on the furniture.  She is a sleeper!  She sleeps all night and sometimes doesn't want to get up in the morning to go potty.  She loves the neighbor pup, petey. She has been diligently trying to dig under the fence to get to him.  We sometimes let her go over to play.  The neighbors enjoy having her as well! :)   When we got her, she was 7 weeks old and weighed about 10 lbs.  We took her yesterday for her 2nd round of shots.  She weighed in at a whopping 21.4 lbs at 11 weeks old.  She is the biggest out of the littler so far by like 4-5 lbs.  We are going to have a BIG dog!!!!  She is the sweetest thing ever.  We taught her how to shake hands this past weekend.  I can't get over how having a pup is so much like having a BABY!  We are loving every second with our little Lilli!

Soooo...jump back to anniversary plans.  We only had her 2 weeks and didnt want to leave her already to go on our getaway.  She was too young to be boarded and didnt have all of her shots yet.  It was also easter weekend so we decided to head South and spend Easter/our anniversary in CC with my family.  Plus, we wanted to show off the newest addition to the Gower family.  Lilli did great in the car and the whole time we were visiting.  Everyone just LOVED her! (especially my dad!!!)  I can't even imagine how everyone will be when we actually have a HUMAN baby!

That has really been all the excitement we've had lately.  Lilli keeps us on our toes and are enjoying watching her grow every day.

Hope this update finds everyone well.  Scott is still working like crazy but hoping to have every other weekend off now.  He definitely deserves it!  He works sooooo hard!  Maybe on these weekends off we will be able to get on the road and see the fam a little more.  We sure do miss everyone!
Love to all!
Kayla, Scott, Lilli

(i will post pictures of Lilli as soon as I get home.  I'm still at work.)

RIP Uncle Danny

Death is part of life, we all know that, but it's still sooo hard!  One week ago today (Jan. 19) i received a phone call from my dad at 8:30 a.m.  My uncle Danny had passed away. WHAT?!?!?!  I was in shock.  Why?  How?  When?  Where?  Millions of questions ran through my head but all i could do was cry.   I was at work when I got the call.  Needless to say, it was a VERY rough day!  When I was able to talk I called Scott and informed him of the news.  Again, he was in shock and had all the same questions I did.  All I wanted to do was jump in my car and be with my family, but I knew the best thing was to just stay put.  I ended up working the rest of the day and spent Wednesday preparing for another roadtrip to Corpus (we were just there the Wed-Sun before for the Livestock show!) while Scott was at work.  As soon as he got off we were on the road again.   Death is NEVER easy, whether it is expected or not.  We all say we wish we would have known this was coming but really, it would not have made things any easier.  Danny apparently suffered some sort of heart attack in his sleep.  He died peacefully and painlessly....and that's more than we could ask for.  I am just so thankful that he did not suffer one bit!  We spent the next few days preparing for the funeral and what not.  Danny was such a legend to our little T-M community.  He touched so many lives during his life.  It has been absolutely amazing to see how many people were affected by this.  It seems like everyone knew him!  He had been with TMISD for 33 years, and spent the last 16 years at the Intermediate school helping out where necessary.  We went up to the school to talk to some of the teachers and the love that the teachers, students, and administrators had for him was just unbelivable.  The students made letters, cards, posters, drawings, banners, etc. for us and we were able to hang them up in the church for the funeral.  Some of the things we read were just absolutely amazing.  I feel so blessed to have been related to such an amazing man!
My fondest memories of my uncle are:
    * my first plane ride.  He took me to Houston on an airplane just to have my first flying experience!
    * Snow skiing in Taos, New Mexico with my brother and Kaley Smith.  We had a blast!  ( I think we were in 5th grade)
    * He dressed up as Santa every year and I was his little elf and we visited his co-workers kids.
    * We flew to San Antonio with my younger cousins Matthew and Cameron to spend a weekend at Fiesta Texas.  Both Matt and Cam ended up sick and it rained the whole time we were there!  haha

There are so many wonderful memories, above are only a few.
I just want to say THANK YOU, to all of you who have been thinking of, praying for, helping, supporting the family through this very difficult time.  Again, you all were very important to him and we sincerely appreciate everything you have done for us during this time.

Danny-we will see you again some day!  "Have Fun in Heaven!" (one of the kids wrote that on their poster and i just LOVE it!  We all know he WILL have fun in Heaven!!!!!)
We love you!!!!!!!!!!!

Always the aunt, never the mom.....

Another baby has entered this world...and I am an aunt...AGAIN!  My bestest friend in the whole wide world gave birth to a beautiful baby boy on January 2, 2010.  Jaxon Noah Cook.  He was born at 3:44 a.m., weight 6 lbs 11 oz & 20 in. long.  Tiny little guy...but he was 3 weeks early.
I am just so thankful that he and mommy are doing great!  In the words of Lindsay's hubby, "she kicked labors butt!".  No epidural!!!!  I am so proud of her.  It killed me to not be there with her during the most special time in her life...afterall, I've been there for most of the others; high school graduation, college graduation, wedding.....this is probably the biggest.  I cannot wait to meet the little guy!  I already love him more than i can even imagine and i havent even met him yet.  His aunt Kayla is going to spoil him rotten!  I plan on spending some time with her when Jason goes back to work..i can't wait!  BFF and baby time! :)
Linz, Jas, and Jax -- The Gower's love you all very much!!!!!

So besides another beautiful blessing from God....i got to spend the weekend with my family.  (which is also a blessing!)  My side of the family came up so we could have our Christmas with them.  We had a great time.  Exchanged gifts, worked on projects around the house, ate way too much, shopped, black light putt putt golf, fireworks, etc.  Overall it was a fantastic weekend.  Scott and I really are blessed to have such awesome people that we call family...on both sides!  I just can't thank God enough for giving us such an awesome support group.  We love you all very much!

Next week we will be making our trek down to corpus. (Havent been there since beginning of October!).  It is my niece, Aubrey's, second year in the Livestock Show.  Scott and I were both big in livestock show growing up so it is really fun to be a part of it now that we are old and are able to give back to the kids.  Will post pics of Aubrey and her piggy "Grasshopper" when we get home.  Good Luck Aubrey!!!!

I havent mentioned anything lately about all my medical stuff thats going on, mainly because I don't know anything.  My female issues are taken care of for now.  Don't have to see the doctor for about 4 months.  The Tuesday before Christmas I had alllll kinds of tests done and I have not gotten any results back.  I have an appointment with my endocrinologist on Jan. 12 (my birthday) to go over the results.  Pray that they figure out what in the world is going on with me!  I am so tired of feeling like this!!! (had another bad day today.)

That's all for now!  Lovies!

Happy new year!

Ready or not, here it comes!!!  I think i'm ready!  2009 has been an awesome year!  I am so excited to see what 2010 has in store for us.
This year was the first year that I did not spend the Christmas holiday with my side of the family.  It was hard, but i handled it well.  I have been extremely blessed to have such an awesome in law family and i definitely felt at home!  This weekend we get to spend New Years doing Christmas with my side of the family.  Should be a great time.  Everyone will arrive at some point today. :)  It's always fun to have a housefull!!!!  We got lots of great things for Christmas so far and can't wait to start putting it all to use in our house.  Scott said last night, "We are going to have an awesome house one day!"   We have lots of plans for the house and i wish we could do it all NOW, but it will take some time...and some money!
Scott and I have become and aunt and uncle again!  Mia Lane Cordy was born Monday Dec. 28.  She was 7.9 pounds and 20" long.  She is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We are so happy for Josh and Jenna!!!  We cannot wait to meet her! [they live in california :( ]
Anyway, thats all for now.....i'll end with a few pictures.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Haven't updated in a while.  Here's what's been going on in our world lately.......we're pretty boring, but here it all is just in case you want to know:

We are really enjoying the cold weather.  It has been awesome!  We even saw some snow!!!!  Who would have thought?  It went from being beautiful 70*, then got colder with a little rain, then some snow, then more rain, then hot and sunny all in a matter of days.  Crazy Texas weather!  The snow definitely was coming down hard, and stuck to the ground in some places, but not at our house.  In fact, by the time I got home from work, it had already stopped snowing.  I did get to enjoy the snow at work though, but my camera was at home. :(  But all in all, it has definitely been a pretty good "winter" so far.

My best guy friend from high school has enlisted in the air force.  He leaves for basic training next week.  He had a going away party in The Woodlands this past Wednesday and we got to see so many of our friends...and their cute babies!; The Flores's (of course)The Koehlers, The Kuhns, The Chandlers, The soon-to-be Hinojosas, Emi, Ben, Will...so much fun!  One of these days Trisha and I will join mommyhood with the others, but for now, we enjoyed everyone else's babies!  I'm excited for Marcus and sad at the same time.  The military is such a bittersweet thing.  I appreciate all they do but it makes me sad to see people have to go to war and such.  Luckily, I will get to hang out with Marcus's wife, Amanda, and son, Landen,  a lot more since she will be living in The Woodlands while he is gone.  YAY! I'm excited!

Scott has still been working like crazy...and it looks like it is only going to get crazier.  LONG hours...LOTS of overtime.  The overtime is nice, but i sure like having my hubby home with me more often.  Oh well, do it while we can, right?

Christmas is approaching fast.  I am almost done shopping.  Only a few gifts left to buy.  I plan on getting most of it done this weekend while Scott is working.  And hopefully we will get the lights on the house.  I will post pics soon.  The tree and mantle decorations have been up for a while now.  We are really excited about Christmas this year.  It will be my first Christmas with my in laws.  We are trying the "every other year" method.  Last year was Christmas with my family, this year with his. We also alternate Thanksgiving as well.  Seems to be working out pretty good so far.  Mom is definitely having a hard time with the fact that I wont be with her this Christmas, BUT, we will be spending New Years with them.  We are also going to Schlitterbahn's Christmas next weekend with them.  I just love this time of year.  Everything about this season is just so magical and makes me happy!

Hope everyone has an amazing Christmas season....and ALWAYS remember the Reason for the Season!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESUS!!!!!

WELCOME HOME, Joshua

My brother in law/Scott's step brother, Joshua, deployed for Afghanistan the day we left for our honeymoon at the beginning of may.  Great News:  HE IS HOME!  Such an awesome feeling!!!!  I have been able to keep in touch with his wifey, Jenna, who is expecting their first baby in January.  Knowing how excited I am that he is finally home with her, I can only imagine how excited they are to be with each other.  Joshua hasn't gotten to see Jenna's cute little baby bump at all!  I get emotional just thinking about it all.  I am just so glad he is home SAFE and finally gets to be with his girls.  WELCOME HOME JOSHUA!!!!!  Thanks to all the troops out there defending our country!  God Bless You ALL!
